Elementary students will participate in a Paws on the Path Walk-a-thon, a district-wide fundraiser to support the expansion of our HVRSD School-Based Therapy Dog Program.
Our school-based therapy dogs are already making a positive impact in all four elementary buildings by helping students reduce stress and anxiety, building confidence, strengthening emotional regulation, and giving students a feeling of calm and safety and helping them be more ready to learn.
Our goal is to expand this important work by creating a Cohort 6, allowing additional therapy dog teams to be trained and certified to reach even more students across the district.
Funds raised will support the certification of 8 new AIR School-Based HVRSD Therapy Dog Teams in Cohort 6 through Attitudes in Reverse (AIR), which provides the training, equipment, and certification or our district’s school-based therapy dog teams.
Students will collect pledges using the Pledge Form. Pledges can be a flat donation or based on the number of laps walked. During the Walk-a-Thon, students will walk a designated path and record the laps walked.
Every step we take helps extend a helping paw and bring therapy dogs to more students across the district.
